Blog Entry #6: Logo Parodies that speak the truth
The BP logo is redesigned with a skull faded into the centre. The space is used proportionally as the skull fits perfectly with the BP logo.
2. Describe the symbols used in the logo. Why did the graphic artist use such imagery?
First off, i think the skull in the logo represents all that died in the ocean because of BP's negligence. The artist is trying to say that what BP did is still causing chaos to the wildlife affected, the loss of money the fishing industry could have made, and the future repercussions of the oil spill affecting nature and the oceans in general.
3. What does this logo say of BP's corporate identity?
The logo is trying to say that BP cannot run their business properly because it took 3+ months to close off the oild valve. If BP continues to run businesses around oil in general, then economic meltdowns will occur, more oceans will be blackened and wildlife will become extinct.

Blog Entry #5: Digital Actors
1. Is this acting or is this animation?
I think that this is acting because the actors are being portrayed in digital animation. Their actions and facial expressions are being taken in by digital software to change their appearance into blue creatures but doesn't change any of the actor's actions.
2. Do you think that animated character should be eligible for acting awards?
I do not believe animated characters should be eligible for acting awards because it really isn't acting when being compared to other films with real actors not using motion capturing technology. For this movie, I believe that since the actors put in so much time and hard work they should receive some recognition by having a category for them at any awards.
3. Do you think that human actors will ever become obsolete? Why or why not?
I believe human actors would not become obsolete because computer generated actors/characters are usually made for children or sci-fi movies. They would only fit for those genres of film. Critics want to see movies to view real people acting and giving the audience their money's worth. Even though animation is advancing, I still think real actors wouldn't become obsolete because you can't really capture true emotion from inanimate characters. Most movies in the future will be computer generated but will have real actors filling in the main roles in the film.

Blog Entry 4: From Spray Can to light: Graffiti Revisited.
Street Graffiti
In this graffiti, the artist decided to create a visual masterpiece using chalk to draw on the pavement. The artist used an assortment of different pastel/water colours (light blue, white, navy blue, grey, black etc.) to create such a convincing art graffiti. This is my favourite example of street graffiti because when looking at it in a certain angle, it looks realistic and 3D. The balance of the piece is great. It is quite balanced out and the size is prefect. The texture of the colour layout is very convincing, giving the viewers/spectators the sense of its real ice. The tone of the water against the ice also creates an impact giving this piece an arts-y feel. The contrast of the dark waters against the ice really emphasizes the art piece.

Light Graffiti
In this picture, the light graffiti is trying to convey a simple statement. The power of music (guitar in general) is awesome. The lines of blue streaks coming out of the guitar gives the guitar an essence. There is emotion when playing the guitar is what I feel when looking at this picture. Everything in the photo is used in perfect unity. Nothing is out of place and fits the picture perfectly.
Compare/Contrast
Both examples of graffiti are great in many unique ways. Their principles of artistic creation are similar while their end product are also contrasted to each other. One is physical, real and tangible art while the other is virtual, unrealistic and intangible art piece. One similarity is that the artist is challenged to be creative and create a great design. A major difference is that street graffiti is illegal due to the fact that it is considered vandalism and that light graffiti is legal because you are using a light source to create or enhance your background or illustration.

Blog Entry 3: MashUp
Example #2
1. What is this mashup trying to communicate? Is it technical experiment, social or political commentary, a comedic parody, or an abstract work of media art?
I think this mashup is trying communicate by means of a comedic parody of how American copyright operates. This video is a compilation/mashup of many disney cartoons creating a satirical rant of the copyright rules in the USA or in general.
2. Did its creator follow or break copyright laws in its production?
The creator, Eric Faden, did not break copyright laws in his production of this video with help from his colleagues. The production stated it was given permission to use the videos and at the end, the video gave credit to the Disney videos by citing the release date and Production Company.
3. Do you think that mashup like this requires copyright permission? Why or why not.
Yes, I do believe mashups like this do require a lot of copyright permission because the creators of such mashups do not want to get into any legal trouble and because when copyright laws are followed, at the end of the mashup, the audience/viewer is able to see where the original work is located and who made it.

Blog Entry 2: A Look At Music Videos
Watch the video on Youtube
Initial reaction
My first thoughts upon seeing this music video is that the song is amazing and how it has a great storyline to follow along with the album. I was quite surprised at how the camera angles and how the video content came out so well.
Analysis and Interpretation
Basically the theme of the song is death. The idea to the song is that Death comes to you in the form of your most fondest/happiest memory so you can die peacefully and live on after death. Another theme is the ability to let go. the lyrics in the song say "...And though you're dead and gone believe- Your memory will carry on" This means that if someone passes away, you should remember them fondly and let their soul rest in peace.
Consideration of cultural context
The lead singer of the band, Gerard Way, created this song because he had a fear of dying alone and that no one would have cared because of his self-destructive habits from when he was younger. Gerard created this song in an attempts for redemption to save his soul.
Expression of aesthetic judgment
The beginning of the video starts out slow and then progresses into a faster rhythm. The storyline of this song/video is a real introduction for the rest of the album and its plot of finding salvation after death and redemption.
Ongoing reflection
Well I am a fan of My Chemical Romance so, I'm familiar with their music but, this got me emotional a bit near the beginning of the song. The way how the band portrayed how Death comes to you in your most happiest memory really amazed me and deepend my appreciation for this band.

Blog Entry 1: Privacy on Social Networking
Internet social network sites are great places to interact with your friends online, find old friends to connect with and share photos with. But think about. Are you sure that your information and photos are seen by the people you trust? Or is it being viewed by a stranger. Earlier this year, a social networking giant named Facebook had a privacy update. This new update caused many security issues and caused Facebook to create a new privacy system which concerned a lot of users and caused them to doubt how safe they are on Facebook.
When you think of your safety on Facebook, you do wonder if you are safe or not. You have your name, personal interests, and your photos online that strangers can view, see what you look like and what kind of person you are. Some facebook users do change their last name to something else to hide their identity but still keep their first name so, their friends could still find them. Most users put up a block to hide their information and on who can view their pictures. Some users actually don't think of their profile's safety and have no privacy settings on so, anyone can view there profile. By doing this, you make yourself open for random strangers writing on your wall, viewing your photos and gaining stalkers online and offline. People who don't have Facebook are lucky that they won't experience any privacy issues but still have to be cautious on what they do on the Internet.
Some tips on how to protect yourself on social networks are to view your privacy settings and set them accordingly on your preferences. By doing this, you avoid any cyber bullying and harassment. Be careful of what you write on your social network because if your friends read it and take what you wrote in the wrong sense there would be confusion and mixed feelings between one another. Make sure you are posting appropriate pictures of yourself.
In conclusion, it is important to always protect your privacy online no matter what social network you use and to be cautious on what you say and post because you don't want any negative attention.
